San Francisco

At 5.12 in the morning  on Wednesday 18 April 1906, the earth suddenly began to move in San Francisco. Most people were at home in bed. All over the cit, men, women, and children sat up when they heard a long and terrible noise. The earth did not stop moving for forty-two seconds. It was a very big earthquake - one of the worst earthquake in the world at that time.
People wanted to stop fires but there was not a lot of water - only one fountain called Lotta'sFountain. Soldiers and other workers stood in a long line and took water from the fountain. The water went from one person to the next, but it was slow work. The fires only stopped after four long days.
This book consists of ten chapters.
 1. The city of hills
 2. Early days
 3. From 1906 to the Summer of Love
 4. The fog and the fault
 5. Travel
 6. The bridge and Alcatraz
 7. Golden Gate Park
 8. Going out
 9. Shopping and eating
10. A little differently

The most surprising thing for me is the earthquake in 1906. I didn't know it. Fires couldn't stop for four days is surprising for me!!

I want to eat sourdough bread so much!!
