Inspector Logan

 Outline

A new detective Logan was in charge of a disappearance case. Robert Kerr asked Logan and Grant to look for his wife Margaret because she hasn't returned since yesterday. Logan and Grant asked him a few questions and say she'll have a photo of Margaret in the newspaper the next day. He said she was wearing a white pullover, a black shirt, a dark red coat and a flower brooch.

At 9:30 on Tuesday morning, a boy and a woman seemed to be his sister, visited Logan. Lizzie tries to tell Logan what Tommy saw, but Logan stops her saying she wants to hear it directly from his mouth. Tommy says she bumped into him at a store on Prince Street around 1 p.m. on Sunday. Tommy remembered well because she didn't apologize him. She was dressed exactly as Robert said. After that, he testified that she had left in a blue car driven by a man.

After they left, Grant told Logan that Margaret was found dead this morning with information from Sergeant McCoist in North Berwick. Her cell phone was found at Tantallon Castle where her body was found. Logan and Grant visited Robert and reported that she had died and that there was a person named Andrew in the call log. He covered his face and cried and said he only knew about Andrew that he was a doctor and lived in a house with a red door near here.

Logan and Grant visited Andrew in Margaret's call log. He was a small man. When Logan asked him, he said Margaret was a lover but the relationship was over on Saturday. Andrew thought she didn't love Robert, so he urged her to decide whether to part with Robert or himself. Then she said Andrew is over and he says he hasn't seen her since then. When Logan asked if he had a car, he said he needed it for his job as a doctor and the color was blue. Logan and Grant thought he was suspicious and decided to take him to search the house.

Logan asked Andrew at the police station for two hours, but she couldn't get any information. But then, Margaret's brooch was found in his rubbish bag that was put out today. The petals of the brooch said "To M with love from Andrew". Grant told Logan a synopsis of the prediction that Andrew had killed her. But she was strangely unconvinced. Then she called the car rental companies and talked for a long time. After the call is over, she went to the next room to talk to Robert who was called the police station.

Robert had answered all the questions and said he didn't know why he was called. When Logan said Margaret was Andrew's lover, Robert was surprised. She talked about the hypothesis that Andrew killed Margaret because their relationship was over. However, Logan couldn't get rid of the question why he came back with a brooch.

Logan compares what Tommy said with what Robert said at the beginning. Tommy said she wasn't wearing a brooch on Sunday afternoon, but Robert said she was wearing a brooch even though he hadn't seen her since Saturday. It was to make him suspicious by telling Logan about the brooch, and she said it was Robert that put the brooch in rubbish bag because the wise Andrew shouldn't do that.

Robert said that he didn't have a car, Logan told  that he had rented a blue car from a rental company on Sunday. When she said there would be some evidence from it, he whitened his face and said he had killed her. Margaret had relationships with so many men including Andrew. Robert was reluctant to live with her, he had killed her and was refreshed. Logan told Grant to take him. Grant replies "Yes, Madam,". Logan was happy to be called Madam.

Impression

I'm not sure about sergeant call inspector 'sir' or 'madam'. This case was the first charge of Logan. The reasons why Grant didn't call her madam were she was younger than Grant or he just didn't like new inspectors, she thought. However, Grant called her madam when he was told to take Robert finally. Logan should be happy and I was happy too because they would establish a good relationship.
